Kingspan is a well-known brand both locally and internationally for manufacturing quality, full building envelope solutions suitable for even the most demanding environments.
Kingspan has been supplying New Zealand with top quality PIR panels for over 20 years. They have now opened a purpose-built manufacturing facility in Christchurch and manufacture two core insulated panel systems. As the list of products manufactured in NZ continues to grow, their commitment to world class, locally made roof, wall and cold store solutions, designed for New Zealand conditions and project requirements is apparent.
The products currently being produced in their Christchurch facility are, KSN1000FC Five Crown Roof and Wall Panel and KSN1100CS Coldstore Panel. These products proudly carry the NZ Made logo and are backed by local technical support for commercial and industrial projects throughout the country. The panels are manufactured using the external surface of COLORSTEEL MAXAM® with Activate® technology – designed & proven to protect for longer, reinforcing the company’s focus on locally supported construction solutions.

KSN1000FC Five Crown Roof and Wall Panel
This move to local manufacturing reflects growing demand for integrated building envelope systems that can help simplify construction while improving thermal efficiency, fire performance and long-term operational durability for New Zealand’s built environment.
The KSN1000FC Five Crown Roof and Wall system combines roofing, insulation and internal lining into a single through-fixed panel, designed to reduce the complexity and cost of traditional built-up roof and wall assemblies. By integrating multiple layers into one prefabricated system, the panels can help reduce installation stages, minimise coordination between trades and accelerate building enclosure on site.
Suitable for both roof and wall applications, the panels can be used across a wide range of commercial and industrial projects including warehouses, manufacturing facilities, distribution centres and large-scale processing environments. The system supports roof pitches from three degrees and is available in panel lengths up to 24 metres, allowing designers and contractors to reduce joins, simplify installation and improve the overall aesthetic on larger structures.

New Zealand Manufacturing Site
Thermal performance is a key driver behind the growing use of insulated panel systems in New Zealand and globally. The KSN1000FC Five Crown Roof and Wall range is available in the following thicknesses: 50, 75, 100, 125,150mm.
These options have been proven to deliver installed R-values, up to R7.13, helping projects meet increasingly demanding H1 energy-efficiency requirements even in the most challenging New Zealand environments.
Kingspan PIR-insulated panels are manufactured using a thermosetting core material designed to not melt, flow or drip when exposed to fire. Kingspan insulated panels place significant emphasis on complying with insurance requirements for commercial and industrial buildings. FM Approval is a globally recognised certification issued by FM Global, confirming that the KSN1000FC Five Crown Roof and Wall panels have been independently tested for performance under fire, wind, and impact conditions. The panel is certified to FM 4471, which covers Class 1 roof panel systems, including fire resistance, wind uplift, and hail damage. It is also certified to FM 4880, which evaluates fire performance of building assemblies and materials without the use of sprinklers. These approvals demonstrate the panel’s compliance with stringent safety and loss prevention standards. They are also classified as an “Approved” panel system under NZS 4541 sprinkler requirements.

KSN1100CS Coldstore Panel
For temperature-controlled and hygiene-sensitive environments, the KSN1100CS Coldstore Panel system is an excellent solution specifically for food processing, freezer facilities, pharmaceutical environments, biotechnology applications and clean rooms. The fibre-free PIR insulated panels are suitable for internal and external walls and ceilings, including “box within a box” coldstore applications where thermal stability and hygiene performance are critical.
The KSN1100CS Coldstore system can also be used as an insulated composite roof deck beneath site-applied membrane roofing systems and is available in panel thicknesses up to 200mm for higher-performance thermal applications.
Beyond product supply, Kingspan provides project-specific technical support from start to finish, including detailing advice, span calculations, thermal condensation-risk analysis, acoustic guidance and specification assistance. The company also supports projects through design meetings, site visits and installation guidance to help ensure system performance from early design through to completion.
As compliance requirements and programme certainty continue to shape commercial construction, integrated insulated panel systems are becoming an increasingly important part of how large-scale buildings are designed and delivered in New Zealand.
