Sage Doors has unveiled Opticoat™, a major innovation in the cabinetry sector and New Zealand’s newest range of coated profile doors.
Developed over two and a half years in response to strong industry demand, Opticoat is designed specifically for cabinetmakers, kitchen designers, architects and interior designers looking for consistent, durable, and locally manufactured coated doors.
Made for the Industry, Backed by Global Expertise
For over a decade, cabinetmakers around New Zealand have asked for a product like Opticoat. Sage Doors answered that call by investing in a new factory extension and adopting the latest automated door-coating technologies from Europe. The result is a high-performance coated door, precision manufactured in a controlled environment for maximum consistency.
“Why reinvent the wheel?” says the Sage team. “Because New Zealand cabinetmakers told us what they wanted, and we listened.”
What Makes Opticoat Different?
Opticoat doors are made using a 16-phase fully automated coating process. This advanced method enables Sage Doors to finely control variables and maintain consistent quality throughout production.
- 27 customisable profiles and five edge profile combinations offer design freedom
- Available in 23 colours across satin, texture, matte, gloss and woodgrain finishes
- Panels are available in lengths up to 3100mm – “taking coated doors to new heights”
- Double-sided panel options with customisable return depths
- Matte surfaces use new-generation technology with enhanced durability and ease of cleaning
Most of the Opticoat profiles align with Sage Doors’ well-known Optidoor range – all named after US states. Some adjustments have been made to some of the Opticoat profiles slightly to suit coating (for example, changed the internal angle etc), so some profile names differ slightly. Sage can share a document with the comparisons that you might find helpful on request.
Locally Manufactured, Nationally Available
Opticoat is proudly manufactured in New Zealand and distributed directly to cabinetmakers across the country.
Sage Doors has already begun fulfilling orders, with positive initial feedback for both finish and quality. Lead times are currently 2–3 weeks, with efforts underway to align with Sage Doors’ typically short delivery windows.
All pricing and quoting functions are available through Sage Doors’ new ordering portal. Customers can use their existing login details or contact the team directly on 09 415 6322 for assistance.
