Building on the success of last year’s Coastal brick launch, Firth has introduced Tasman Coastal Brick Veneer – a premium concrete brick designed for high-contrast cladding in residential and commercial builds, as well as striking internal feature walls.
The original Coastal split-face concrete brick veneer, produced at Firth’s Hunua masonry plant, delivered a spectacular finish with subtle shadowing that evolved throughout the day. But the team at Firth saw an opportunity to take it even further.
Firth’s bricks are crafted using locally sourced natural aggregates, which can dramatically influence their hue and create stunning regional variations. For example, Firth’s Nelson plant incorporates a local marble aggregate, prized for its purity and signature ‘sparkle.’
So, intrigued by the possibilities, the team shipped the Coastal brick mould to Nelson and conducted a trial run using the region’s unique marble aggregate combined with Dricon’s White Portland Cement. The result? A brilliant white, split-face brick that not only retained the soft shadowing of the original but also reflected dazzling pinpricks of light when kissed by the sun—it literally sparkles!
Impressed by the results, Firth fast-tracked production of the new premium Tasman Coastal Brick Veneer. While manufacturing is exclusive to the Nelson plant, Firth has taken the extraordinary step of making this exceptional new brick available nationwide.
With the durability of concrete masonry, the striking split-face finish, and the brilliant white radiance of the marble aggregate, the Firth team is confident that homeowners, architects, and designers alike will love this brick as much as they do.
And it’s a real showstopper. While the original Coastal Brick is available in Premium White, the Tasman Coastal is so strikingly bright that Firth had to create an entirely new colour name for the product: ‘Brilliant White’.
Tasman Coastal Brick Veneer is now in production and will soon be available at Firth outlets across the country. Both Coastal and Tasman Coastal bricks are Made-to-Order (MTO), so designers and installers should contact Firth for pricing and lead times.
