In the heart of Ponsonby, Ockham Residential’s latest development, The Greenhouse, stands as a testament to architectural innovation and aesthetic excellence. A key feature contributing to its distinctive façade is the integration of UNEX Systems’ Keston Framed Balustrade in Dulux Fine Gold Pearl Kinetic — a product that marries robust functionality with contemporary design.
A Fusion of Form and Function
The Keston Framed Balustrade is characterised by its 40x16mm fin infill, delivering a bold, modern appearance that complements the Greenhouse’s green-glazed brickwork. This design not only enhances the building’s visual appeal but also ensures compliance with New Zealand building codes. The balustrade is suitable for various applications, including internal and external decks, mezzanines, and stairways, and is designed for buildings up to three storeys or 10 metres in height. A total of 789 lineal metres of Keston Framed Balustrade were specified for this project, side fixed to concrete across a variety of areas including decks, stairs, Juliette balconies, and the pool area, all using a DTF 40x16mm fin infill. On the decks, the design was enhanced with decorative aluminium panels featuring custom patterns.
UNEX Systems provided comprehensive technical support throughout the Greenhouse project, including site-specific PS1 designs to meet the unique requirements of the development. The Keston balustrade is available in both side and top fix options, accommodating various substrates such as concrete, masonry, timber, and steel. Additionally, fully parametric BIM Revit files are accessible through UNEX’s Technical Portal, facilitating seamless integration into architectural plans .
