GIB® Intertenancy Barrier Systems for Terrace Homes

Published: 30 September 2024

With the increase in medium-density housing and apartments built around the country, the GIB® Intertenancy Barrier System provides a cost-effective solution that is suitable for both timber and steel framing. This includes GIB Barrierline®, a 25mm thick plasterboard used as a central barrier and associated accessories.

For builders and architects, these BRANZ-appraised systems represent a reliable solution for meeting modern building code requirements while providing homeowners with long-term peace of mind.

Designed to meet and exceed New Zealand fire regulations, GIB® Barrierline® systems create an effective fire separation between individual units. This fire-rated system is essential for multi-tenancy housing developments like terraced homes, where safety is paramount.

GIB® systems also excel in delivering high levels of acoustic separation, ensuring a quieter and more comfortable living environment, which is an attractive feature for developers aiming to provide quality living spaces.

In addition to fire and noise control, the barrier systems contribute to enhanced security and structural integrity. They are easy to install, durable, and require minimal maintenance, offering builders and architects a cost-effective yet high-performance solution.
