Set amidst the Aspen hills, The Silver Mountain residence by SAOTA, has been named as a finalist at the World Architecture Festival (WAF) 2023 in the Future Project House category.
With panoramic views of the Roaring Fork River, Ajax Mountain Range, and the Aspen Ski Mountain Range, this outstanding private residence, is both an architectural marvel and a feat of engineering.
Striking tilted roof masses, monolithic stone programmatic boxes, and sculptured pillars marry functionality with aesthetics and define the structure’s elegance and character.
The innovative design had its challenges, with an intricate roofing structure and integration of large stone elements requiring precision and ingenuity.
To make the project even more challenging, the home’s location presented logistical hurdles, with both materials and labour needing to navigate remote and rugged terrain.
The Silver Mountain residence is one of two SAOTA designs selected as finalists in the World Architecture Festival this year. Held from November 29 to December 1 at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, The World Architecture Festival is a prestigious event where architects and designers from around the globe come together to celebrate and discuss the future of architecture.
SAOTA Director Philip Olmesdahl recently visited New Zealand as keynote speaker for Design Experience and you can see a conversation with Philip on our Conversations page, here: https://designexperience.co.nz/conversations/
